Why I Still Love Blogging in 2020

Most people reading this now may not know this, but I have technically been blogging for over a decade. This blog is much newer than 10 years old, but I actually had a little blog as a preteen (on this same platform - Blogger! At least I'm consistent!) and have made various blogs ever since then throughout the years. I delete them and stop writing online for a while, then start back up again. When I first started blogging, I had no forms of social media - even Facebook! I would just write on my little blog and play around on the computer. I also loved writing in journals and writing stories. These days, Instagram reigns supreme for quick online writing and creativity, but there's something special about sitting down in front of the computer with a specific topic in mind and just letting my thoughts run wild. I don't have many readers, but something about having my own little corner of the internet where I can completely customize and make it my own feels special - making my posts quality and thought-out is fun and fulfilling.

I also love to read blogs - flipping through someone's Instagram profile is one thing, but being able to read a blog full of someone's thoughts, ideas, tips or recipes feels more personal. Everyone knows I love making recommendations. One of my favorite blogs at the moment is A Beautiful Mess - I'm loving everything these two sisters put into the interwebs lately! Elsie Larson and Emma Chapman are sisters and two creative women who post many ideas for business, crafting, home decor, and recipes. I've been doing some reading on their blog and binge listening to their podcast, and I'm just loving the positivity and creativity I feel when I delve into their content. Another old favorite of mine is Coffee + Crumbs - their essays are beautifully written by mothers, and they capture the little moments of motherhood magically. Their community is a great spot for creative moms as well - they have writing workshops and resources on their website.

Social media is the big thing these days (Duh, I know) but old-fashioned blogging will always hold a special place in my heart. I love reading blogs, I love editing and creating my own - I hope if you feel drawn to writing online, the idea that blogging is a thing of the past won't hold you back. Write away, and create that space for your own ideas on the internet!

Lotsa dat love,
Megan
